Welcome to Our Toilet Collection |
||
You have landed on one of the more special web sites found on the Internet.
As you might have guessed, the subject is toilets. You could call this
web site a different kind of travel information. Most of the places where we stay overnight
when we travel, we take a picture of the toilet. When we return home,
we put the picture on this web site along with a little description of
the place. If you have any questions concerning the places we have visited, you are welcome to send an email. You will find our email addresses at the bottom of the page. If you would like to see some other (and more detailed) travel descriptions, have a look at our website: The Udsen Adventure Web Site

Zambezi River, Zimbabwe, October
1999 This was our toilet on a canoeing trip down the Zambezi River. Its really simple: Take this with you behind a bush, dig a hole with the showel, do what ever you have to do, use the toiletpaper, burn the paper using the matches and cover it all again! (This was in fact the picture that started the idea behind this web site) |
Hotel "Villa El Griego",
Isla Margarita, Venezuela, March 2000 Even a nice pink toilet like this, couldn't make us stay at the hotel for very long. There is 52 beaches on Isla Margarita, and we had to try as many as possible. |
||
Åseral Cottages, Åseral, Norway,
May 2000 We found time for a short trip to Norway. We rented this lovely wooden cottage with a view of a small waterfall. Imagine sitting on the toilet listening to the waterfall. Afterwards you go to the livingroom and enjoy the warmth from the fireplace - while you are sitting watching the waterfall. That is really cosy! |
Hotel CabInn Scandinavia, Copenhagen,
Denmark, August 2000 We had to find a place to stay after having been to a Tina Turner concert in Copenhagen. We ended in this (relatively) cheap hotel, where the rooms looks a bit like cabins on a ship. There wasn't much room at the toilet, but it worked as it should. |
||
Kathmandu Guest House, Kathmandu,
Nepal, October 2000 We stayed at this guest house for one night just after arriving in Nepal. Very nice room and toilet. But we had booked it from home, so we payed way to much, compared to what you can find in Kathmandu. |
Campsite near Bhumdi, Nepal,
October 2000 During our trek we stayed for one night at this camp, where they had a "real" toilet - the one on the picture, that is!! During the rest of our trek we used a toilet-tent. It's important not make a wrong step, when using a toilet like this on a dark nigtht. |
||
Trekking, Nepal, October 2000 With a little help from Inge, we can see how our toilet looked on the rest of our trek in Nepal. The toilet-tent is put up at some distance from the other tents and a hole is digged in the center. When we leave the campsite, the tent is packed away and the hole is simply covered again. |
Raftingtrip, Nepal, October 2000 A somewhat more simpel toilet-tent was used during our rafting trip. Four poles, a piece of cloth and a hole in the sand. The red rafting-helmet shows that the toilet is being used. When you're done, the helmet is placed on the paddle seen in the rear. |

Forest Hideaway Lodge, Bardiya,
Nepal, November 2000 This lodge, found near the Bardiya National Park, is built the same way the locals built their houses - that is floor and walls made of clay. There is no elctricity, but there is this lovely pink toilet, a shower and a hand wash. It is not an untoughtful man who forgot to put down the toiletseat! The shower is right next to the toilet, so to avoid that the next person using the toilet gets a wet behind, you (even women) put up the seat before using the shower! |
Highlander Guest House, Kathmandu,
Nepal, November 2000 The trekking company Highlander in Kathmandu also has a nice guest house. We stayed there on our last night in Nepal (this time). After having taken a shower (again the reason for the seat being up) we discovered that the drain in the floor was blocked. We reported that to the reception, went to a restaurant and when we returned, the problem was fixed. Nice and helpful staff! |
||
Hotel Dawar el Omda, El Gouna,
Egypt, March 2001 This hotel is found in a town/resort called El Gouna. The hotel is built and decorated in a nice original Egyptian style - just look at this bathroom! The room was cleaned every day, and if you left a little tip for the staff, they did it even better! Beautiful hotel - and the restaurant is really good! Remember to drink a "Gammel Dansk" (or something like that) every morning, then you are (almost) guaranteed that you will not get problems with your stomach! |
Fjand Camping, Fjand, Denmark,
July 2001 On a short weekend trip we chose to sleep at this excellent campsite. There is a lot of beautiful nature in the area, so the next day we went for a long walk in the nearby forest. |
||
Sælvigbugtens Camping, Samsø,
Denmark, August 2001 We started our summer holiday this year by going to the danish island called Samsø. We put on our backpacks, took the ferry to Samsø and during the next 4 days we walked through most of the northern part of the island. The southern part will have to wait ... One night we stayed at this campsite. It is a beautiful campsite situated in a lot of trees and right next to the sea. Apart from nice toilets, they also had a kind of dining room we could use when it started to rain. |
Villa Lefteris, Santorini, Greece,
August 2001 After walking around in the rain on Samsø, it was really nice to come to Santorini and enjoy the temperature being about 20 degress higher than in Denmark! We had bought a trip with an "unspeficified hotel". We were very pleased with the little guesthouse where we stayed. There was a frigde in the room and also this nice toilet. We didn't stay much in the room though. We rented a scooter and went to every corner of the island. It is a fantastic island! |

Weis Stue, Ribe, Denmark, october 2001 You can read more (in danish or german) about Weis Stue here |
NewRotel, Bangkok, Thailand, february 2002 So, now we are in Thailand. At the beginning of a 3 week trip in this beautiful country, we spent a couple of days in Bangkok. We stayed at NewRotel - a very nice place with a friendly staff, cold beers, good rooms and nice toilets. |
||
KP Bungalows, Koh Chang, Thailand, february 2002 After a couple of days in Bangkok it was really good to get away from all the noise, the smog and the crowds. We went to the island called Koh Chang, where we found us a bungalow at KP Bungalows. It was a very basic bungalow and a toilet just as basic. But it was clean and well functioning. The thing on the right side is not a bathtub, it's the water supply for taking showers etc! |
Camp site at Tee Lo Su waterfall, Thailand, march 2002 After enjoying the sun and the beaches at Koh Chang, we went on a trekking/elephant trip in the Umphang region. One of the places we passed, was the Tee Lo Su waterfall - a beautiful place by the way. Nearby is a camp site, and the toilets there was not so beautifu! |
||
Trekkers Hill, Umphang, Thailand, march 2002 After the trekking/elephant trip we spent a night at Trekkers Hill in the town Umphang. It is a nice place with large bungalows and toilets like these. |
At Mister Lar's, Mae Sot, Thailand, march 2002 Both on our way to Umphang and again when we were heading back towards Bangkok, we spent some time at Mister Lar's in Mae Sot. He is a really friendly man. And then he has two of these fantastic bathrooms with hot water in the shower and nice toilets! |
||
Villa Droggitis, Zakynthos, Greece, may 2002 We got an offer we couldn't refuse! A cheap trip to the greek island called Zakynthos. It is a beautiful island and it is not crowded. There is a lot of places to visit on the island, and again we rented a scooter and drove all over the island. We stayed at Villa Droggitis, where they have got these toilets. What else can you ask for??!? |
Hotel Rihana Inn, El Gouna, Egypt, april 2003 We bought an unspecified trip to Egypt, and ended up in the lovely hotel Rihana in El Gouna. We were very pleased with that! There is not much to see or do in El Gouna, but it is a perfect place, when all you want is to relax - and then maybe do a little scuba-diving ... |
||
Tranum Klit Camping, Denmark, august 2003 On a weekend trip to the North Sea coast we stayed at Tranum Klit Camping. It is a very good campsite and their toilet facilities are good. There is lots of space around each tent/caravan and lots of trees to give some protection against the sometimes strong wind. |
Hotel Sharm Holiday, Sharm el Sheik, Egypt, september 2003 In Egypt for the second time this year! It is becoming a habit! This time we started out on a 4 days liveaboard diving trip. After that we stayed at Hotel Sharm Holiday. This is a hotel at about 10 minutes walking distance from the beach front in Naama Bay. You are allowed to use a certain part of the beach, when you are staying at this hotel. |
